A toaster oven is incredibly convenient, allowing us to bake and reheat items without having to rely on our ovens.  Small enough to fit on the counter, it blends in well with the other appliances – that is, until it inevitably gets dirty.  If you can’t remember the last time you cleaned your toaster oven, it’s probably time to get to work.

The good news is that cleaning your toaster oven doesn’t need to be a hassle.  With the right nontoxic cleaning products, you can get it done quickly all while knowing you’re not using harsh chemicals throughout the process.  And, at Grab Green Home, we have the best all natural cleaning products for the job.

Do You Need to Use Toxic Chemicals to Clean Your Toaster Oven?

While we do recommend ditching the natural homemade cleaners for this type of task, since they may not be effective enough, that doesn’t mean that you need to use toxic chemicals to clean your toaster oven.  There are plenty of non toxic, eco friendly cleaning products that can effectively remove all of that gunk from the toaster oven without forcing you to breathe in unwanted chemicals, which can end up in your food while your toaster oven is running.  For this job, we strongly recommend Grab Green’s Kitchen Power Degreaser, along with our Liquid Dish Soap.  These sustainable cleaning products use natural ingredients to clean safely and effectively.

How Often Should You Clean Your Toaster Oven?

The answer to this question really depends on how often you use it.  If using your toaster oven a few times daily, you’re gonna need to clean it daily if possible, while if you are more of an occasional user, once a week is probably fine.  You will know that it’s time to clean it when it clearly appears dirty, or there are crumbs or grease splatters that start to burn when you turn the toaster oven on.  Using a dirty toaster oven can be dangerous, as grease and old food particles can become a fire hazard if the toaster oven is running on high heat.

How to Clean Your Toaster Oven the Right Way

Now, let’s get to the cleaning process.

Step #1: First, remove the bottom shelf that slides into the toaster oven, if there is one.  This can be cleaned separately using our non toxic dish soap and some hot water, in the sink as you’d normally hand-wash any dish.  Do the same for the racks and any other removable, washable components of your toaster oven (every toaster oven is different).

Step #2: Now, start working on the interior.  Use our Kitchen Power Degreaser to lift away grease, by spraying it liberally throughout the entire interior of the toaster oven and letting it sit for a couple minutes to really work into that greasy residue.  Now, you can use a paper towel to wipe away all of the residue that’s in your toaster oven.  You may need to do this a few times if there are some stubborn spots that are crusty or particularly greasy.

Step #3: At this point, you can grab a damp paper towel or sponge, and give the interior a good wipe.  The inside should now be clean.

Step #4: Finally, use the same degreaser and paper towel method to clean the entire outside of the toaster oven, before putting the removable parts back in.  Make sure the toaster oven is dry on the inside after cleaning before you use it again.
