Choosing and Cleaning Reusable Bottles

As we become more environmentally conscious as a society, we’re beginning to change the way in which we look at everything in our homes.  In fact, we are starting to make better choices as it pertains to the ingredients in our everyday household products, having more awareness than ever about on how to recycle, and even starting to use an influx of reusable products that minimize waste as much as possible.

One of the best investments you can make in terms of its environmental impact is reusable bottles.  For decades, we have been guilty of using excessive amounts of Styrofoam and plastic in order to carry and store liquids.  It is only now that we’re realizing just how much of a negative effect this has had on our environment.

If you’re ready then to make the switch to reusable bottles, Grab Green Home is here to help.  We will help you pick out the best ones, and just as importantly, explain how to keep them clean.

Why Should We All Use Reusable Bottles?

Like we said, for decades we’ve been relying on non-environmentally friendly materials in order to carry and store liquids.  And, now we’re starting to see what an impact this has made.  Nowadays, we understand that most plastics, as well as Styrofoam, are extremely destructive to the environment, failing to break down properly, and putting marine life at harm.

Reusable bottles are an ethical choice, and a critical one that all of us should really consider making.  And, the effort involved is minimal, to say the least.  Other than keeping them clean, there’s really nothing that you need to do.  Meanwhile, reusable bottles can make your life easier as you won’t have empty nonreusable bottles lying around your house, taking up precious counter space.

Choosing Stainless Steel or Glass Reusable Bottles

Reusable bottles come in all shapes and designs, but the key is choosing which material you want to use.  The most common materials are stainless steel and glass.  So, which one is right for you?

Both stainless steel and glass make for great reusable bottles, but there are some key differences to keep in mind.  One is breakability.  Stainless steel is virtually indestructible, while glass is not.  Given that bottles hold liquids, you need to be extra careful with glass as the outside can get slippery.  Meanwhile, glass is less likely to retain heat, if that’s something you’re concerned about with hot liquids.

Of course, you may find that you have needs for both kinds of bottles, depending on what you’re using them for.  Overall, the material that you prefer is completely up to you.

What is the Best Way to Clean My Reusable Bottles?

The thing about reusable bottles is that you do need to stay on top of cleaning them, as bacteria and other unpleasant microbes can build up inside.  After you’re done with your bottle, you should make sure to clean it according to the directions, if there are any.  Some can withstand a dishwasher, but most do need to be handwashed.

But, the good news is that bottles that need to be handwashed don’t require a ton of effort, either.  The key is using a formula made specifically for cleaning reusable bottles, which takes care of the cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing all at once.  Grab Green Reusable Bottle Wash is the perfect everyday cleaner for your reusable bottles, regardless of the material from which they’re made.  It’s gentle enough to protect the materials, and because it’s natural and nontoxic, you don’t have to worry about safety concerns.

Not only that, but our bottle wash formula is environmentally friendly, according to the strict standards of the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).  We’re aware that using reusable bottles makes a positive impact on the environment, and the process of cleaning them should as well.  And, as an added bonus, it’s a low-foam formula, so you won’t have to worry about tasting soap after each cleaning session.

Free of sulfates, bleach, dyes, phosphates, and parabens, Grab Green relies on gentle, plant-based ingredients that break up residue and kill germs that are lingering in the crevices.  Simply fill your bottle up with our solution, allow it to soak, and rinse it out with warm water.

Make sure to pay attention to the spout, where residue can build up in the crevices.  In fact, we recommend using a toothbrush to gently but effectively scrub away this residue, as germs can accumulate here, as well as odors.  And, of course, you’ll want to make sure you’re also cleaning the lid or cap just as thoroughly.

Cleaning Stainless Steel Reusable Bottles

When it comes to stainless steel, you’ll also need to clean the outside of the bottle to keep the metal looking its best.  Simply wipe it down with our solution, dabbed onto a microfiber cloth, whenever you start seeing streaks.

Removing Chlorine Marks from Reusable Bottles

If you’re dealing with chlorine marks, you can use our solution to naturally dissolve the chlorine residue and leave the inside or outside of your bottle spotless.  You can also use distilled white vinegar if you’re in a pinch and have run out of cleaning solution.
